I realize that it has been too long since I last posted, here. Fortunately, I am able to report that I have been working on multiple projects that will benefit Faber Optics (not to mention photographing JV Lacrosse, Sophomore Football, and Varsity Football, all of which require considerable time and effort).
Early in 2025, I started down a rabbit hole in my efforts to explore immersive video capture and editing (to experience on Apple’s Vision Pro headset). This is something I expect to talk more about in the future. Along with that, I made 3 trips to Oregon to capture video and still images with new and rented equipment. The results of these efforts will be appearing at FaberOptics.com in the days ahead.
In addition to announcing that I’m still here and still very much committed to making Faber Optics something of genuine value, I would like to announce that it is now possible to purchase fine art prints from the new Faber Optics Store. My photographs are printed on cold press textured matte fine art paper (both paper-only and framed prints are available), which is a high-quality, archival grade, acid-free, 100% cotton rag inkjet paper (weight: 340 grams per square meter; thickness: 21 mils). The prints are made with color-calibrated Canon printers using pigment-based inks that will resist fading for over 100 years. Framed prints are available with classic solid-wood frames and optical-grade acrylic (safer than glass and easier to ship).
More images will be made available for print in the coming days (if you love one of my images that’s not available in the store, please let me know). I’m pretty thrilled to see this all coming together.
I see this whole website and online store as a significant new beginning for me. It’s a way for me to share some of my favorite images, some valuable things I have learned, and offer my own vision of “good optics” to those who appreciate photography (and video) as art as well as a technical craft.
Stay tuned…
Ben
